How to recreate the Louis XVI style at home? A return to classicism in opposition to the Louis XV style: the rocky forms are replaced by geometric shapes, while the structure of the furniture is enhanced with rectilinear shapes. This style of interior borrows from neoclassical architecture its rigorous forms such as the rectangle, the square, the round and the oval. What is the typical furniture for this style? The armchair type bergère that ends with a hat folder and have straighter lines. The lines of the seats are also geometric. The “cabriolet folder” is also present, but re-stylized. Often the chandeliers are crystal, suspended from the ceiling. Panels decorate the walls and statuettes – the room. Often the walls are also decorated with mirrors and paintings of classical art.

You are free to mix different styles to create an eclectic interior with classic and contemporary touches. Why not mix the round shapes of the Louis XV style with the rigorous lines of his successor Louis XVI and more contemporary elements? Adopting a neoclassical interior style, does not necessarily mean having a confined and retro interior. By mixing different pieces, you can create a unique, chic and elegant atmosphere.
