With this private visit, we invite you to discover an urban apartment where meet industrial decoration and Scandinavian style. Built in 2015 by Open AD – Architecture and Design, the house is located in the city of Riga, Latvia.
It was part of a project to remodel and renovate a set of three city buildings, one of which housed the apartment in question.

From an interior decorating point of view, they decided to mix two very trendy styles at the moment: Scandinavian design and industrial decoration. That’s why the red brick wall cladding was naturally chosen as one of the accents of the interior space. The presence of the wall is even more noticeable thanks to the black furniture that contrasts with the color of the bricks.

The design apartment has a large loft-style open space where the kitchen is located, a dining area and a lounge area. Painted in black, the kitchen furniture is complemented by touches of wood on the central island bar and on the dining table. Industrial luminaires are suspended in these two parts of the interior.
The seating area has a Scandinavian corner sofa and a large black wall bookcase.

At the other end of the room, a small sitting area with gray corner sofa and wall bookcase invites us to relax without breaking contact with people who may be in the kitchen.

In an identical way, the bathroom, accessible by glass doors, is entirely painted white which is the typical color for the Scandinavian design. Black touches complete this space and reinforce its definitely Scandinavian appearance. At the same time, most of the accessories in this piece are made of metal – a material that is very much used in industrial decoration. This is how all the interior spaces of the apartment testify that industrial design can be successfully associated with Nordic design.
