One of the latest decorative trends is the concept of creating an indoor space outdoors. So we go beyond the traditional decoration of terraces and balconies to an “outdoor” lounge that includes a sofa, armchairs, a coffee table, light fixtures and of course a outdoor carpet.
The outdoor rug is a very easy and simple way to improve the appearance of the deck, balcony or patio by giving it colors and texture. It can be easily changed on different occasions and can last several years as long as you take care of it.

Synthetic fiber is the material most often used for the manufacture of outdoor carpets as it offers better resistance to mold. Natural fiber on the other hand tends to absorb moisture and even though the natural fiber mat can be used outdoors in a covered space, it’s still not ideal for completely uncovered spaces for hot climates.

The majority of outdoor carpets sold today are made from olefin fiber. The olefin has very high color resistance properties. This makes it very resistant to fading caused by sun exposure. This fiber is also very stain resistant. This makes it perfect for outdoor spaces that tend to get dirty very quickly. And finally, the olefin is often very reasonably priced.

Choosing the size of the outdoor carpet is also very important. A rug that is too big or too small for your patio is by no means a good choice. If you plan to use a rug above the outdoor dining table, choose it big enough. So you could cover the area of the table and chairs even when the chairs came out below the table. This means that when you sit at the table, the feet of the chairs must still remain on the carpet. For an outdoor garden carpet, the size of the carpet may vary. The general rule is that the front legs of the furniture should be on the carpet but not necessarily the back legs. The size of the carpet still depends on the complete decoration of the space.

The outdoor carpet is a small investment compared to what you need to do for furniture. So even if you choose neutral design furniture to be able to use it longer, the carpet gives you the opportunity to make the decor of the space more original and more modern. This will save you from big expenses. So, do not be afraid to experiment with the carpet! Choose sparkling colors or interesting patterns and coordinate the outdoor rug with the other decorative accents you will use. As for example with the cushions on the sofa or the vases on the coffee table. The wide patterns are very suitable for outdoor spaces, so go for printed patterns or a contrasting border. Choose something you really like and you’ll be happy with the result!
