Make an indoor and / or outdoor wall: steps to follow

The basic structure of any plant wall is usually made of a solid material. Most often, it is a thick wooden board or wooden pallet. If you do not want to pierce your wall, go for a structure self-supporting. Once your basic structure is chosen, it must be made waterproof. To make the background raincoat, take flexible polyethylene film (polyane) and cut it, a little bigger than a board. Put it in the bottom and let it protrude on the sides. Then take the sphagnum, the magic foam that holds water. It is found in all gardening stores. Place a sphagnum moss in a bowl and sprinkle it so that it soaks up well. Then drop it on the bottom of the board. Finally, add over the potting soil evenly. To make it more beautiful, you can put green moss on top of it.

We go to the stage of creating the front of the wall. Take the measurements of the board and cut the grill according to these dimensions. Attach the grill to the board and place it on the bottom. Turn everything over and cut off the excess polyethylene film. Let’s go for the establishment of succulents.

Enlarge the holes in the grill with a pair of pliers to pass the roots. Dig a hole in the foam with your finger and slide the plant into it. Do the same on all the surface by arranging them to your liking. Let stand a week for the plants to root. Afterwards, you can fix it to the wall, suspend it or install feet.

Vegetal painting: how to make it?

In a recent publication we are interested in different ways to make a vegetable painting, often called vegetable frame, self. Creating a vegetable painting is a very creative and fun activity.

First, you will need a frame (of course!). You have the choice between two options: a cardboard frame or one wooden frame. The version with the cardboard frame is the simplest and fastest to achieve.

The steps of the realization of a vegetable board with wooden frame

If you do not have a ready-made frame, you can use four pieces of wood to create one yourself. For this operation, you need screwdriver and screws. Those with a ready-made wooden frame can go directly to the next step.

The steps are the same as those of the plant wall. The only difference is that to make the background of the painting raincoat, you can use a trash bag. Then, we put the sphagnum moistened, we add potting uniformly and if we want, we add foam wood to make it more beautiful.

If you have a frame with window, remove the latter and replace it with chicken wire. Take the measurements of the frame and cut the grill according to these dimensions. Attach the mesh to the frame and place it on the bottom. Turn everything over and cut out the excess of the garbage bag. We go to the stage of the establishment of succulents. The holes in the screen are enlarged, a hole is dug in the foam, and the plant is slipped.

Create a vegetal picture with cardboard frame and jars

The necessary equipment :

  • thick cardboard for the frame
  • cardboard box (eg shoe)
  • metal cans
  • moss (sphagnum)
  • Succulents
  • mold
  • double-sided adhesive

Start by tracing the outlines for the pots on the back of the cardboard box. The idea is to make holes in their size to fix them later. The number of holes and canned foods depends on the size of the box you have chosen. For a shoebox, we will use about 5 cans, for example.

Then continue by placing the Sphagnum, which you previously deceived in the water, at the bottom of each can. Foam is necessary for the maintenance of moisture. We finish this step by placing the succulents and spreading the potting evenly. To vertically fix your artwork to the wall, use double-sided tape.
