Recovered railway sleepers are another possible solution, but they are relatively expensive, as are simple sleepers. Gabions are also increasingly used to build beautiful and solid retaining walls.

If you have decided to do the earthwork of your garden yourself, you must not forget that this requires considerable effort and certainly earth moving and clay digging. It is very important to make very strong retaining walls to avoid potential problems later. It is best if the height of the walls is not more than 60 centimeters and if you make them higher, make sure that the wall is slightly leaning backwards into the ground.
