The Art Deco style is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for contemporary furniture designers. And for good reason, it revolutionizes the world of art and crafts with its original shapes, colors and materials.

The Art Deco style appears in the aftermath of the First World War, both breaking with the movement Arts Nouveau and announcing the splendor and luxury of the industrial society that is developing. The Art deco furniture bear all these characteristics. First, they are made from wood and rare or precious materials: ivory, alabaster, exotic or precious essences (elm or walnut magnifying glass, burr walnut, rosewood, sycamore, etc.). The finishes of the wood are natural, raised by the use of lacquers for a smooth and boring effect. Art Deco furniture also bears the signature of the nascent modern industry. The glass pressed into a mold and the bakelite make their appearance next to bronze or golden brass, chrome or nickel plated. The Art Deco style is also the patterns and colors.

The new post-war society loves floral designs, geometric and oblique forms. The colors are bright and decisive. Many motifs are inspired by non-European or ancient civilizations.
