The futon bed or platform bed is inspired by the tradition of decorating Japanese houses. Characteristic furniture of the bedrooms in this country, this bed consists of a mattress (in the past, a sort of quilt), which was laid directly on the floor of the room.
Simple and light, these Japanese beds were foldable and could be hidden completely in a few minutes to save space or to change completely the allocation of a room.

In Western culture, the futon bed can be placed on a foldable platform or not. In the first case, it is similar to the click-clack and other types of space saving furniture for adult room, guest room, studios and other multifunctional spaces. Platform beds often accompany artistic decorations and ethnic and bohemian chic rooms. This is precisely the case of the piece of furniture on the picture above which gives us another original idea: to accompany the foldable bed of a lighting integrated to the wooden platform to imitate the effect of the candles placed on the floor of the room!
