Other important characteristics of teak wood include its natural resistance to insects. The natural oil it contains makes the teak resistant to insects that can destroy other types of wood. It is always the natural oils that are responsible for the resistance of teak to water and mildew. In principle, most trees contain similar oils. But teak is unique in that it has the ability to preserve it even when the tree is already cut down. Only condition for this to be done: that the wood has been dried in a suitable manner. Indeed, it is this drying process that ensures that teak wood will be protected from insects and mold not only at its surface but also all its layers.

Because of all these features, teak wood is an increasingly sought-after product.
